Update: January 1, 2013. Happy New Year! To all of our friends, old and new, may this be your best year yet. A big shout out to our new friends from Australia - Mike & Sandy from Adelaide, and Mary from Perth.

This gallery is making progress, but still under construction.

Once completed, this gallery will contain our cruise photos from Australia and New Zealand, including shore excursions to Hobart (Tasmania AU), Port Arthur (NZ), Dunedin (NZ), Wellington (NZ), Tauranga (NZ), and Auckland (NZ). For now, this gallery is not copy protected, so that our friends may download and print any of these photos. We hope you enjoy viewing them as much as we did capturing and posting them.

[Image 5454] [Hi-Res Nikon D4] Approaching the port of Hobart, Tasmania, for our first land excursion. This scene captures the first of a number of lighthouses we saw along the way. The cruise covered a little over 4,000 nautical miles in 14 days at sea.
[Image 5484] [Hi-Res Nikon D4] Hobart Marina. Taken thru the window of a bus, this image does a pretty good job of capturing the serenity of this bustling port town on the Tasman Sea.
[Image 5505] [Hi-Res Nikon D4] Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, located outside historic Hobart. The wildlife sanctuary is a medical treatment and rehabilitation center for injured or orphaned animals. Our first stop in the sanctuary was the kangaroo habitat. Looking back on the trip, this first land stop was one of our favorite memories.

[Image 5542] [Hi-Res Nikon D4] Tasmanian Devil, photographed at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. It is difficult to get an idea of the size of this fellow from the photo. My guess is that he is just about 18 inches long and would weigh about 8-10 pounds. These critters are quite busy, and this one in particular needs to attend an 'anger management' course.

The wildlife sanctuary is a medical treatment and rehabilitation center for injured or orphaned animals. Here, we see 'Burt', a four-year-old Koala who was born in the sanctuary and will remain there for life, since he has had no exposure to life in the wild. We were told Koalas spend only an hour or two a day awake, and the rest of the time sleeping.
